I got ma'amed.

I got ma'amed at Starbucks today. My delicious iced tall skinny cinnamon dolce latte tastes a lot less sweet when it comes with a side of "you're old".

Word to the young, well-meaning customer service folk: always go with miss unless you're sure the person is over 50. You're more likely to get a tip that way.

  1. Girl, I feel your pain. I get Ma'am-ed all the time because of being married to military. It's been happening ever since I was 19. But it still makes me feel old every time!

  2. It happens to the best of us! Now a days I'm excited if they refer to me as "miss"

  3. You should move to the south... The person probably was raised her. And it just means they are being polite. You say Ma'am to everyone. NO matter what. H

  4. Seriously, I feel the same exact way. It makes me feel so OLD! And I think the exact way. Sometimes it makes me shudder!

    Great blog!

  5. Hey! Yo' mama is over 50, and I STILL like to be called "miss", no matter how much I know they're lying! Funny stuff, Nat! You have my sympathy. You still look like a kid to most! You were probably wearing your professional garb. Love you lotz,
    Mommy Salame
