This Friday night, my friend Morgan (of Mrs. Priss fame) and I along with about 100 others, participating in a benefit event in honor of the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Our superbly awesome Zumba instructor, Rosa, along with 7 other instructors and 100 participants met in the Valley Oak Elementary cafeteria to Zumba for two hours (or basically until we dropped!) dancing 2-3 routines created by each instructor.

The instructors came from all over the valley, including Porterville, Bakersfield, Tulare, Visalia and Madera and each instructor added their own flavor to the mix. Some routines were really easy to pick up and others were more of a challenge, but it was SO much fun and the music was awesome and BLASTING :-)

Morgan and I Zumba'd (is that a verb that I can past-tense?) for 1 hour and 45 minutes and when I calculated it out using my Weight Watcher tools, we burned approximately 1,200 calories! Okay, so we were SOAKED in sweat, I mean, errr.... glistening ;-) but what a fun experience!

Thank you to Rosa for the invite, and if you haven't checked out Zumba in your area yet, please go to Zumba.com and join the party soon! You won't regret it. Beware it is addictive, and oh yeah, it can help you (or in this case me!) lose 15 lbs :-)Our wonderful instructors (Rosa is in the middle, bottom row)

  1. I just bombarded Rosa with facebook comments, haha. Last night was definitely a blast! I'm so glad we were able to go.

I'm sitting on the couch for the rest of the night, by the way. hahaha
