Thanks, but we'll just watch the Disney channel.

I understand that there are all kinds of parents out there. I understand that parents come from all walks of life, all education levels, many different age groups, and have all had different upbringings. I understand that there are parents who are not aware of what is healthy for their children- and companies and organization that seek out opportunities to help families improve their health.

This morning, when I went to turn on Keegan's favorite shows, so that I could spend a few minutes getting ready so we could go do something fun together-(this is why I need TV- to buy myself enough time to mascara two eyes- not to be the primary source of household entertainment) I saw this:An announcement said aloud that today is the "worldwide day of play" and instructed us to "go outside and go all out". There would be no TV show shown on Nick channels until after 3pm.

While I am aware and appreciate the fact that there are some parents who need something like this to spur them to peel their children from the sofa and throw a football on the front lawn with them- I am not one of them- and I just needed Handy Mannie to let me put my makeup on so I COULD go out and have fun (in public) with my kid.

So, sorry Nick- but your pushy method didn't get us outside any sooner (actually, slower) and we just flipped to the Disney channel.

Ok, I'm done being a brat now, feel free to judge me silently. ;-)

  1. No judgment over here... I'd be pissed if I didn't have my normal distraction! lol

  2. I feel you! The kids just wanted to watch some Spongebob but nooooo. I totally get the "get outside and play" deal, but when it's raining it's kind of hard to do that. We watched Disney all afternoon too.

  3. Preach it sister!

Hi, I don't know you... I don't even remember how I came upon your blog, but the title caught my eye and I had to read it. I completely agree that sometimes you need them to be distracted long enough to get something done. And how does Nickelodeon even know if it's nice enough to go outside today? Or what if we live in the ghetto and can't go outside Nickelodeon? Huh, what then??? (I have my sarcastic tone on; you just can't SEE it). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I agree - strongly! =)
