Tasty Tuesday: An easy way to dress up "spaghetti night"

Growing up, "spaghetti night" was never the go-to easy meal. Growing up in an Italian family- making sauce was an all day affair and buying canned/jarred sauce- well, it was just never done. Honestly. NEVER. I still to this day have never seen a canned or jarred sauce at my Noni's or my mom's house.

But, when I was a newlywed, learning to cook for my husband and self on a regular basis, I quickly understood why buying jarred sauce was a go-to move for most families. It was easy. You could boil noodles, throw sauce on pasta, mix up a salad and say you'd cooked dinner in about 15 minutes flat. And thus, spaghetti night became a reality for this working wife (and now mom).

As time went on, and cooking became a hobby, jarred spaghetti sauce sort of lost it's touch for me. It's just been done. But, sometimes even someone like me, who LOVES cooking- still needs a really easy meal for a busy evening with the family.

So, I sort of accidentally stumbled upon an easy way to turn jarred spaghetti sauce into something a little more special, without a lot of effort. I give to you...

Creamy Garlic Spaghetti Sauce:
3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 jar of your favorite sauce (worked really well with Bertolli Olive Oil and Garlic Sauce- and yes, we're adding MORE olive oil and garlic ;-))
1/2-3/4 cup half and half (can use fat free!)

Heat the oil over medium heat in a pan. Add garlic and cook just until golden, then add the jarred sauce. Turn heat down to medium-low, whisk in half and half. Stir until creamy and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Spoon over pasta of your choice, top with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
Enjoy! :-)
