Side dish makeover- Steak Fries

I don't usually buy frozen potatoes (hash browns, fries, curly fries etc.) I don't really know why, I just don't. Maybe it's because if I'm being totally honest, I prefer pasta to potatoes for my carb splurge at dinner, hands down. Ok, so "maybe" wasn't really necessary there... Natali + pasta = luv. Yup. A reeeeeal shocker there, right?

Moving on.

On my recent Fresh and Easy trip/maiden voyage, I decided for some reason, that I wanted to buy some steak fries, with the intent of finding some way to spruce 'em up a bit.

Last night, I made them with dinner, and I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. Apparently they were a hit with the hubs too, because he photographed them and tweeted them to the world! Ha! What wife isn't excited when her hubby finds her meal worthy of a photograph, I'll admit I was pretty floored. Here's what I did with the fries, try it, I think you'll like it too!

Made-over Steak Fries ala Blonde

You'll need:
1 pkg of frozen steak fries (I used 2/3 of the bag)
1/2 tsp kosher salt (I had a hard time finding this for awhile, then, lo and behold my mom found some for me at the Dollar Tree!)
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 cup freshly and finely grated parmesan cheese
2 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves of garlic, finely minced

Mix all items in a big bowl with your hands, then lay on a cookie sheet and place in an oven preheated to 450 degrees. (I like to line my cookie sheet with foil so I don't have to wash it later). Bake until golden and crisp (18-20 minutes). I dipped them in a little honey chipotle barbecue sauce I had in the fridge, but they were pretty darn good without dip too. Enjoy!
