Sunday Morning Breakfast

Growing up, my grandmother had this amazing vintage Belgian waffle iron that made the most wonderful crispy on the outside waffles in the world.  We received two waffle irons when we got married, and neither could hold a candle to my grandmother's waffle iron.  It was such a bummer, I just didn't really want to make waffles.  I love the waffle iron so much, I told my grandmother that I hope she lived to be 201 years old, but if at some point, she got tired of her earthly life, if she would please leave the waffle iron to me, so I could always make "her" waffles.

Lucky for me, I get to have my wonderful grandmother AND waffles :-) my mom and grandmother found ANOTHER waffle iron just like THE waffle iron at a thrift store and bought it for me!  I was SO happy!  It's quite possibly one of my favorite kitchen items ever. This morning, I made us up a batch of strawberry Belgian waffles and thought of my grandmother. (We just use the good ol' Bisquick standard waffle recipe)  I love Sunday morning breakfasts!

Best waffler EVER.
