Beauty Best Bets - November Recap

My sister and I both really enjoy discovering great new hair or cosmetic items, and frequently text or email each other when we find winners. I thought it would be fun to share our favorites with you each month here, and perhaps you'll find something you love too!

My November Best Bets

I received this single shadow as part of my November Ipsy subscription. I knew I'd use it at some point, but wasn't in a big rush, until I saw the tutorial image seen below:

(pinned on Pinterest, of course) and realized this shadow would be perfect for the look. It's really a nice shade - flattering for those of us who typically don't feel like they wear greys well, as the shade is a cross between grey, brown and purple. Give it a try - I'm willing to bet it's universally flattering.

2. TRESemmé Nourishing Rituals Cashmere Touch Hydrating Serum

I have extremely fine, blonde hair that is chemically treated and frequently heat-styled. (In other words, if hair could scream "SOS!" mine probably would.) I often need hydration and detangling, but many products I've tried weigh my hair down or grease it up. This serum is both light and highly fluid and easy to spread throughout hair - and it doesn't make my hair feel greasy. After applying, my hair feels silky and soft. (No easy feat to pull off these days - my hair is SUPER dry in the winter.) Highly recommend (on sale at Target this week!)

3. Ulta Eye Shadow in Stardust

There is so much more to this color than meets the eye! In the pan, it looks like a gold, shimmery shadow. However, on it becomes the perfect, creamy sparkly nude that blends across the lid perfectly and combines with almost any shade, similar to the way MAC's Shroom does, only Stardust is warmer. Ulta's store branded shadows can be hit or miss pigmentation-wise in my opinion, and I do layer this color on a bit (with primer underneath) but once it's on, it lasts all day and I love the way it looks. I find myself reaching for it almost daily.

4. Stila Self-Adjusting Pink Blush

This is something I tested at Ulta more as a joke, because the shade was so shockingly neon pink. But, guess what? Joke's on me! This blush is awesome! I don't know how it "knows" how to adjust, but when I put it on, it's a gorgeous shade of sheer, pretty pink! Not remotely neon on the skin. I tried to walk away without it. I tried to tell myself to wait until after Christmas, but it was so pretty I splurged -- and have used it daily since. So glad I tried this, despite it's off-putting initial appearance!

And now, for my sister Shauna's favorite products:

5. Tree Hut Almond and Honey Shea Body Butter

The first time I used this body butter, I immediately texted Natali a picture of it with the caption “This is the best smelling thing of all the things that have ever smelled.” I’ve only recently discovered how great body butters are, especially for my dry, sensitive skin during the winter months. This one is hands down my favorite. It smells incredible, feels super rich, and moisturizes very well. It’s organic to boot and pretty cheap considering much you get in the jar. Bonus: If you need a good body scrub, try Tree Hut’s Tropical Mango Shea Sugar scrub. Works even better than the much pricier Fresh brown sugar scrub and smells almost as good as the body butter does.

6. Cover Girl Last Blast Volume Mascara

I’m pretty loyal once I find a mascara I love and I haven’t tried a Cover Girl one in years, because most of them now have the plastic, rather than bristle, brushes that I haven’t had much luck with. I gave this one a shot due to an Allure recommendation and an Ulta sale. This is easily my favorite mascara of the moment. Intensely dark pigmentation, loads of volume and thickness, a good amount of length and no clumping or flaking to speak of. I like to layer on a couple coats to really go bold but it’s also a beautiful daytime mascara with just one coat. Doesn’t budge all day but washes off easily with face soap and water. Try this mascara in the orange tube and you’ll find you’ve almost got that false lash look they all claim to give (but never actually do).

7. Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Backstage

I’ve been a sucker lately for all of the new Revlon butters, balm crayons and lipsticks. I spotted this one on an end cap when I was looking for an on-trend and very outside of my normal color scheme ox blood lipstick (“Ox blood. Pffft. Why don’t they just call it what it is – maroon!” – Natali) and it looked good in the picture on Olivia Wilde. Sold. The formula is matte but not too drying and it has a bit of a stain effect so touchups are minimal. The color is downright gorgeous, even on a pale complexion like mine, and I think the undertone is neutral so it may just be universally flattering. I found exactly what I was looking for in this lipstick and have loved how glamorous I feel wearing it.

So, what were your November favorites?
